Blue Angels Cancel Vero Beach Appearance

The Vero Beach Air Show announced tonight that the United States Navy Blue Angels have cancelled their scheduled appearance for next weekend at the 2016 Vero Beach Air Show.

In a phone call Friday evening, Blue Angel #8, Captain Corrie Mays, told Vero Beach Air Show officials that it is with "deep regret" that they must cancel next weekend's scheduled appearance in Vero Beach.

The Blue Angels returned to the skies Thursday above Pensacola, Florida, exactly two weeks after a fatal crash June 2nd in Smyrna, Tennessee involving Blue Angel #6, Captain Jeff Kuss.

The team's next scheduled appearance is July 2-4 at the National Cherry Festival Air Show in Traverse City, Michigan. The team will continue to fly training flights above NAS Pensacola before their return to the air show circuit, which is still to be determined. At the moment, the Blue Angels have yet to announce a replacement for the Opposing Solo position in the Blue Angel Delta.
