According to the Durango Herald, the Colorado city will pay tribute and memorialize fallen Blue Angels pilot, Captain Jeff Kuss, on Saturday, June 11th.

The tribute will begin with a motorcade beginning at 11 a.m. that will process through the city and end at Greenmount Cemetery in Durango. City officials are encouraging residents of Durango to line the streets along the four-mile route. The Durango Police Department is already preparing for road closures.

Following the motorcade, there will be a graveside service, which is closed the public. However, Durango residents may be able to hear the 21-gun salute honoring Marine Corps Captain Jeff Kuss.

During the service, there will be a flyover from the Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 312, also known at the famous Checkerboards. They will perform the missing man formation in Kuss’ honor. Captain Kuss flew with Squadron 312 before his involvement with the Blue Angels.

The family will greet the public during a reception following the graveside service at the Student Union at Fort Lewis College.

Tuesday, Kuss’ remains were flown from Dover AFB home to Pensacola, Florida aboard Fat Albert Airlines, the Blue Angels' C-130 Hercules. Lt. Ryan Chamberlain joined his Opposing Solo one last time over Pensacola for a flyover down the beach.

Two memorial services in Pensacola are planned for this week in honor of Kuss. One is a private event at the NAS Pensacola Chapel. The public is invited to come out tonight for a memorial service at Veterans Memorial Park, which starts at 7:30.
