Blue Angels Still a Go for Pensacola Beach Air Show, Civilian Acts Cancelled
The Santa Rosa Island Authority has announced that the Blue Angels will attempt to perform a limited show for Friday and Saturday’s Pensacola Beach Air Show as long as the weather holds out and stays within their limits. Strong surf in the Gulf of Mexico has prevented the U.S. Coast Guard ships to be able to mark center point and show right for Friday and Saturday’s shows.
Local military aircraft from Whiting Field Naval Air Station will be making passes along with a U.S. Coast Guard C-130 Hercules from Clearwater, Florida as long as weather conditions are within their limits.
The civilian acts for the 2019 Pensacola Beach Air Show have been cancelled for Friday and Saturday due to tropical storm-force winds and waves, coupled with the lack of water rescue assets.
“The Santa Rosa Island Authority recognizes the amazing commitment that the Blue Angels have shown in order to make this show a reality and perform for their hometown crowd,” said Paolo Ghio, Executive Director of the Santa Rosa Island Authority.
An update for Saturday’s air show will be provided after the 8:00 AM briefing Saturday morning. The air show has an available rain date Sunday, July 14th. Stay tuned to our website and social media for the latest updates regarding the 2019 Pensacola Beach Air Show.
