U.S. Air Force Lightning II Demonstration Team Announces New Commander and Pilot

The United States Air Force F-35 Lightning II Demonstration Team has announced its new Commander and Demonstration Pilot, Captain Kristin “BEO” Wolfe. She will lead the F-35 Demonstration Team to more than 20 show sites across the United States in 2020, and will also be with the team for the 2021 show season.

Captain Kristin “BEO” Wolfe just wrapped up her certification with Air Combat Command and becomes the U.S. Air Force’s first single-ship demonstration pilot. Last spring, Captain Zoe Kotnik was announced as the F-16 Viper Demonstration Team Commander and Pilot, but was relieved of command shortly thereafter and was eventually replaced by Major Garret “Toro” Schmitz.

Captain Kristin “BEO” Wolfe is a 2011 graduate from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. After graduation, she joined the U.S. Air Force and earned her wings in September 2012. Since earning her wings, Wolfe has logged over 800 hours in both the F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II. Most recently, she was deployed with the 34th Fighter Squadron at Hill AFB to Kadena Air Base in Japan. Following the deployment, Wolfe returned to Hill AFB In Utah as an instructor pilot for the 388th Fighter Wing.

Following the conclusion of the 2019 air show season, the F-35 Lightning II Demonstration team moved from Luke Air Force Base in Arizona to Hill Air Force Base in Utah. Since then, Captain Wolfe and the rest of the team have been training and preparing for the 2020 show season, which begins for them March 13 at MCAS Yuma, Arizona. The entire 2020 schedule for the F-35 Demonstration Team can be found below.
