F-16 Viper Demonstration Team Announces New Team Commander and Pilot

As all four of the U.S. Air Force single-ship demonstration teams wrap up the 2022 Heritage Flight Training Course at Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona, the U.S. Air Force F-16 Viper Demonstration Team has announced its new Team Commander and Demonstration Pilot for the 2022 air show season.

Following the approval and certification from the Commander of Air Combat Command, General Mark Kelly, Captain Aimee “Rebel” Fiedler has been named the 2022 Team Commander and Demonstration Pilot for the F-16 Viper Demo Team. Captain Fiedler takes command from Major Garret “Toro” Schmitz, who led the team during the 2019-2021 air show seasons.

Captain Aimee Fiedler is a Texas native, and graduated college from South Dakota State University. She has accumulated over 2,000 hours of both military and civilian flight time, and has been flying the F-16 Fighting Falcon since 2019. Last year, Captain Fiedler served as the F-16 Viper Demonstration Team’s Safety Pilot, flying a spare jet to each show site and watching each demonstration from the ground.

Just last month, Captain Aimee Fiedler helped the U.S. Air Force F-16 Viper Demonstration Team and Air Combat Command execute a one-of-a-kind flyover of Super Bowl LVI in Inglewood, California. She even flew NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner as an incentive flight prior to the big game.

The F-16 Viper Demonstration Team and Captain Aimee “Rebel” Fiedler will make their 2022 season debut March 19-20 at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans in Belle Chasse, Louisiana. Help us congratulate “Rebel” on her new role, and stay tuned to our website and social media as the 2022 air show season takes off!
